September Visit

posted 15 Oct 2018, 17:27 by Ave Maria   [ updated 15 Oct 2018, 17:29 ]

During September in the silent darkness of an early morning Sr Maria and Br Michael Palma and Sr. Sue Hyde drove to the airport to commence our visitation of legionaries in the beautiful cities of Adelaide and Perth.  The long distance travelled from Melbourne to Adelaide to Perth in one day was surprisingly easy and most enjoyable.  We wish to thank the Comitia in Adelaide and Perth and the Mater Christi Praesidium, Fremantle, for their warm welcome and hospitality and especially to Sr Joan Cahill in Adelaide and Srs Rosemary Bennett and Moya Bruce in Perth for looking after us.  The work being done in both States is substantial and both are faced with challenges we are all familiar with.  One of those challenges is just as Jesus said to his disciples "The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few … (Luke 10:1-2). We must all work harder to recruit new members.

Mother Mary's Birthday mass 8th September 2018

posted 13 Sep 2018, 21:20 by Ave Maria

“The Legion of Mary was mainly organising the Mass and presentation of the Rosary Scroll,” Ms Bennett said.

“We were delighted, and so with the permission of Monsignor McDonald this was included in our day.”

“This is the 30th anniversary of the 48-hour Rosary Bouquet. For Legionaries and those individuals and parishes who commit their Rosary to Our Lady for her use, it seems to be a highlight in their year,” Ms Bennett explained.

The celebration started with a welcoming procession where attendees went around the area of St Joachim’s Church while praying the Rosary, led by Brother Simon from the Alliance of the Holy Family International.

Father Eugene McGrath

posted 6 Aug 2018, 18:46 by Ave Maria   [ updated 7 Aug 2018, 16:32 ]

Dear Legionaries and Friends,

The funeral arrangements for Fr Eugene McGrath are as follows. I encourage you all to attend either or both liturgies.

Vigil Rosary and Mass in St Pius X Paterson St Manning at 6.45 Rosary. 7pm Mass Wednesday 8th August 2018

Funeral Mass in the Redemptorist Monastery Vincent St North Perth at 1.00 Thursday 9th August 2018

Our much loved Fr Eugene McGrath was peacefully taken into his heavenly reward on Thursday 2nd August, at his home at the Little Sister's of the Poor in Glendalough. Fr Gene, as he was known to many, was a very faithful Spiritual Director to several Praesidia. He was also Spiritual Director of the Perth Senatus, travelling to the monthly meeting from Merredin only retiring from this position because his hearing was failing. Father continued with his support of the Legion by attending our Annual Retreat and many of our Annual Masses. Although his hearing made it difficult to hear he would quietly sit with us and offer prayers for the success of the event. Although his gentle guidance will be missed by many I am sure he will be watching over us all.

Rest in peace dear Fr McGrath and may we all reassemble when the battle of life is over. Legionaries of Mary

The Legion will hold a memorial Mass with full Legion of Mary prayers in about a month as our tribute to him and his love of Our Blessed Mother and her Legion.  More information on this will be sent out at a later date.
